Harrison Hollow Nature Area
NEWS:
ACCESSIBLE TRAIL ADDITIONS COMING TO
HILLSIDE TO HOLLOW RESERVE
Ridge to Rivers is adding two new trail connections and widening a section of the Harrison
Hollow Loop Trail to increase accessibility in Hillside to Hollow Reserve. In addition, the trail
tread will be converted to an all-weather surface material to allow for improved winter use.
Construction is expected to start on Monday, July 22 and wrap up by the end of August. Please
note, the contractor plans to stage materials in the Harrison Hollow Trailhead parking lot, which
will result in the closure of a handful of parking spots for the duration of the project.
Please stay out of all closed areas for your own safety and use alternate routes as these improvements are completed.

It all started when…
In 2010, Harrison Hollow was listed for sale and at risk of being sold for development. The Land Trust of the Treasure Valley moved quickly to secure an agreement to purchase the 58 acres off Bogus Basin Road as a nature preserve.
Today, Harrison Hollow is one Boise’s most beloved recreation areas. The Land Trust's leadership inspired the City of Boise to acquire the adjoining 270 acres with Foothills Levy funds, which together with The Hollow created a 310-acre Hillside to the Hollow Reserve.

Harrison Hollow All-Weather Trail
The Harrison Hollow all-weather trail is an accessible, low grade, mile long trail that runs through the drainage of the Hillside to Hollow nature preserve from the ridgeline to the parking area. In 2012, the trail was graded, graveled and compacted to ensure it could be used even during the winter months, hence “all-weather”. In Fall 2022, the all-weather trail was resurfaced to keep in usable all year long.
